[ISP] Wind and Snow Causing Major Problems
Start Date: 1/5/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 1/5/2014
Entry Description
Lowell, IN-Snow, wind and dropping temperatures throughout the day has deteriorated roads for travelers as the Indiana State Police answers numerous calls for service throughout the Lowell District. The Lowell District is comprised of Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski and Starke Counties.

Snow is expected to continue heavy at times throughout the evening. Areas of blowing snow will develop as the night progresses. Strong north winds 20 to 35 m.p.h. will result in significant blowing and drifting snow that has produced near white out conditions at times. Dangerously cold wind chills will occur tonight through Tuesday morning.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has been tirelessly working non-stop to keep roads and ramps clear and opened but with deteriorating weather conditions and traffic this becomes a major undertaking.

The Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Transportation would like to stress that with the snow/strong winds and dropping temperatures this has and will make traveling very hazardous or impossible. Due to the strong north winds many east/west roads are drifting closed as are most of the ramps on the interstates.

PLEASE before traveling consider the nature of your trip. If it is not necessary STAY HOME!!
