[ISP] I-65 Crash: Car Goes Airborne Into Trees

Entry Description
Lake County-A Demotte, Indiana woman was injured this morning when she lost control of her car on I-65 and it went airborne into some trees.  Location of crash was north bound I-65 at 245 mile marker (two miles south of Crown Point exit).

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Dennis Simcoe revealed that at approximately 7:58 a.m., this Tuesday, January 21, 2014, morning a 2008 Mazda, driven by Bridget Birzek, 44 of Demotte was north bound on I-65 when she lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons. The roadway in this area was not receiving snow and was dry.

The Mazda went off the roadway, hit a ditch and went airborne into the trees. Birzek who was wearing her seat belt was taken to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point with non-life threatening injuries.
The Mazda was a total loss.
