[ISP] Person Struck on I-65 by Suspected Impaired Driver

Entry Description
Indianapolis, IN- A Mooresville woman is in the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center this morning after being involved in a crash that critically injured an Indianapolis man.

This morning, February 22, at approximately 4:00 a.m., state troopers responded to I-65 NB at the 112.5 mm to the report of a personal injury crash. Preliminary investigation and witness statements revealed that Lindsay Standeford, 24, of Mooresville was operating a 2004 Ford SUV in the right lane on I-65 NB at the 112.8 mm. Paul Hines, 58, of Indianapolis was off the roadway changing the right front tire on his vehicle on the right side emergency shoulder.

The crash investigation has revealed that Standeford’s vehicle crossed the white fog line and struck the left rear of Hines vehicle with the right front of her vehicle. Hines vehicle was shoved forward and to the right pinning him between his vehicle and the guard rail. Standeford’s vehicle came to rest on the right side emergency shoulder ahead of Hines vehicle.

Hines was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition with upper body injuries. Standeford was not injured.

During the course of the investigation troopers became aware that Standeford may have been operating her vehicle while impaired. Standeford submitted to a certified chemical test with results of .14% BAC.

She was transported to the Marion County Arrestee Center without incident and is facing charges that include Operating a Motor Vehicle while intoxicated causing Serious Bodily Injury, a Class D felony.

The interstate remained open during the course of the investigation.
