[OUCC] Washington Township Water Corp. rate case: Consumer comments invited
Start Date: 5/12/2014 All Day
End Date: 5/12/2014
Entry Description

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) is inviting written comments on Washington Township Water Corporation of Monroe County, Indiana’s request for a rate increase.

The OUCC, the state agency representing consumer interests in cases before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), is reviewing the utility’s request and has not yet taken a position in this case. The OUCC anticipates completing its review and filing testimony with the Commission on May 28, 2014.

Current rates for Washington Township Water Corporation – a not-for-profit utility serving approximately 1,450 customers in Monroe and Morgan counties – were approved in 2004. The utility is seeking an increase of approximately 30.5 percent in its rates and charges, in addition to IURC approval to issue up to $1.5 million in long-term financing. According to its testimony, the utility’s request would increase the monthly residential bill for a customer using 5,000 gallons from $31.01 to $40.45. In its filings, the utility states it is seeking the changes to pay for a new elevated water tank, main upgrades and other projects. The utility’s filings specifically note that main relocation due to the Interstate 69 construction project will be fully reimbursed by the Indiana Department of Transportation.

More information on this case, including the utility’s testimony, is available online at www.in.gov/oucc/2795.htm.

Consumers who wish to submit written comments in this case may do so via the OUCC’s Website at www.in.gov/oucc/2361.htm, or by mail, email or fax:
