All IAC grant applications and reports are now online. All direct grant programs will be applied to through IAC's Online Grant System. Even if your grant deadline is months away, you can start to enter your basic information and manage your grant application now. To start an application, select the program you wish to apply for below and read the section on how to apply.

Only one application is allowed per year, per organization or 501(c)(3) for a grant in any of the following IAC grant categories: Reginal Initiative Grants (Arts Project Support and Arts Operating Support) Arts Operating Support II, Arts Operating Support III, Statewide Arts Service Organizations, Arts in Education, and Regional Arts Partnership Regional Block Grant, and Regional Arts Partnership Operating Support.  If special funding opportunities arise, some deviation from this rule may be permitted on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the IAC and the funding source. Public entities, chapters/affiliates, and fiscal agent relationship will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Grants for Individual Artists

Arts in Education Granting Program
The Arts in Education (AIE) Granting Program was developed to help support curriculum needs, impact student engagement and performance, and develop a long term commitment to the arts in schools at the primary and secondary levels. Qualified applicants will be asked to develop a balanced and working partnership to help develop and implement a successful educational project. The role of the partnership is seen as an enhancement to the work of the professional educator in the educational setting, not intended to replace staff or faculty. All projects must include and meet a minimum of five (5) current Indiana Academic Standards. Current standards may be found on the Indiana Department of Education website at http://dc.doe.in.gov/Standards/AcademicStandards/index.shtml.

  • Applications for Calendar Year 2013 have closed. 
  • Artists that apply for CY2013 must be teaching artists; teaching credentials will be an important part of the criteria.


Indiana Black History Public Art Legacy Project
The General Assembly has mandated a Black History Display in the Indiana State House. The Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA) and its partners, with the concurrence of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus, have determined that a public art legacy project should be created and installed in the Indiana State House, located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Individual Artist Program
The Individual Artist Program (IAP) funds projects to aid in artist career development.    

  • Applications for FY2014 (7/1/13-6/30/14) are now open. 

Annual Grants for Organizations

Arts in Education Granting Program

    Regional Initiative Grant Program
    The Regional Initiative Grant Program includes:

    • Arts Operating Support (AOS) - AOS is specifically geared to Indiana arts and cultural organizations.
    • Arts Project Support (APS) and Mini Grants - APS/Mini grants are designed to support new and existing arts projects and activities produced or presented by an Indiana non-profit organization. The objective is to provide general public access to quality arts and cultural activities, with special attention to underserved communities, and to provide general public access to educational opportunities where Indiana citizens of all ages can learn about and experience different art forms and participate in arts activities.
      • Applications for Fiscal Year 2014 (July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014) are now open.
      • Regions outside of 7 should consult the regional partner for application information.


        Statewide Arts Service Organizations
        Provides financial support to organizations offering technical assistance on a statewide or multi-regional basis, with an emphasis on arts providers in underserved communities.  

        • Applications for Fiscal Year 2014 (July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014) are now open.

        Multi-Year Grants for Organizations

        Arts Operating Support III (AOS III)
        The Arts Operating Support III (AOS III) program provides annual operating support for the ongoing artistic and administrative functions of eligible arts organizations that provide quality arts and cultural activities on a statewide or multi-regional basis, with special attention to underserved communities.

        • Applications for Fiscal Year 2014-15 (August 1, 2013 - July 31, 2015) are now open. 


            Regional Arts Partner Grant Program
            In 1996, the Indiana Arts Commission and 12 community-based organizations jointly established the Indiana Regional Arts Partnership. In December 2011, the Commission voted to dissolve the region 11 partnership. The counties served by region 11 have been absorbed by the region 8, 10 and 12 partners for Fiscal Year 2013 and beyond. In collaboration with the IAC, the RAP exists to promote and expand participation in the arts in Indiana. It provides broad local access to arts services and funding opportunities throughout the State of Indiana. Services include, but are not limited to, information and referral, technical assistance, and regranting of state and federal funds.

            • Grantees for grant period July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2015 (FY2012-15) have been selected.
            • No applications are being taken at this time.

            Technical Assistance Program

            Healthy arts organizations help build vibrant creative communities throughout Indiana. Yet, at times, all groups need additional skills and resources to fulfill their role as vital partners in community life. TAP supports established and emerging institutions and artists, helping them develop effective leadership, sound management practices, diverse financial resources, and successful partnerships. 
            • Grantees for grant period CY2012-13 (1/1/2012-12/31/2013) have been selected. 
            • No applications are being taken at this time.

            Special Programs

            Statewide Cultural District Program
            A cultural district is a well-recognized, labeled, mixed-use area of a community in which high concentrations of cultural assets serve as the anchor.  Indiana Statewide Cultural Districts promote the exploration of and participation in the arts and humanities through cultural experiences that are unique to our communities.  Indiana Statewide Cultural Districts support community life and economic vitality.

            • Applications for 2013 have closed.
