Attorney General > About the Office > Telephone Privacy Telephone Privacy

The Indiana Attorney General's Telephone Privacy Division is dedicated to protecting consumers from deceptive and predatory business practices. Perpetrators of scams use telemarketing as a tool to reach their victims. You can protect yourself from such scams by signing up for the Do Not Call list.

The division also enforces the state's Do Not Fax law which prohibits sending unsolicited advertisements to fax machines. The law applies to advertisements sent to residential and business fax numbers. Unlike the Do Not Call law, the Do Not Fax law does not require people to register their fax numbers. The law applies to every fax number in the state.
