Overview
Gasoline pricing is a volatile and dynamic issue. That is why the Indiana Attorney General's Office and federal agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Energy monitor gasoline prices regularly. Weather and other issues surrounding refineries can easily affect prices of gasoline, especially considering approximately 40% of Midwest fuel comes from coastal installations.
The following graph illustrates how the average price of gasoline can be affected in a time of weather uncertainty, even when the price of crude oil decreases.
