Litigation Division
The Attorney General’s Litigation Division is responsible for representing the state in many situations, including:
Administrative & Regulatory – Defends challenges raised against state laws, civil statutes, regulations and policies, as well as initiates legal proceedings on behalf of regulatory agencies that are seeking enforcement actions against violators.
Civil Rights & Employment – Defends the state against charges of civil rights violations and employment discrimination.

Offender Litigation Screening
Collections and Bankruptcy – Collects money owed to state agencies and represents the Department of Revenue in bankruptcy proceedings. It is also called upon by various state agencies to provide advice within its area of expertise.
Environmental – Represents state agencies in court to uphold and enforce state environmental laws. Areas of expertise include air, water, solid and hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, and other environmental issues.
Government Practice Group – Provides general litigation work in areas of government practice and advisory services.
Torts – Defends the state and its agencies against claims regarding personal injury and property damage that arise from the conduct of state personnel or the condition of the state’s property.
Transportation Practice Group – Works closely with the Indiana Department of Transportation on legal work, including administrative hearings, contracts and condemnations.
