Attorney General Steve Carter says Voter ID Ruling is a Positive Step in Maintaining Confidence & Integrity in the Electoral Process

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indiana’s law requiring picture identification for voting has been upheld by the United States Supreme Court, giving one more tool of protection from fraud in the electoral process, announced Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter.

“States should have the ability to implement appropriate and constitutional steps to protect their electoral systems from fraud,” Carter said.  “We can move forward in Indiana with a process that provides constitutional protections to its citizens protecting their vote from potential fraudulent activity.”

Carter commended Solicitor General, Tom Fisher, for presenting a well reasoned and thoughtful defense of the law to the Court.
