Disability License PlateThe cost of the disability license plate includes only vehicle registration fees and taxes.

A disability license plate or disability parking placard allows the holder to park in areas designated for disabled drivers.

Eligibility

Disability license plates are available to Hoosiers who:

  • Have a permanent disability that requires the use of a wheelchair, walker, braces or crutches;
  • Or have permanently lost the use of one or both legs;
  • Or experience restricted mobility due to certain medical conditions;
  • Or are permanently blind or visually impaired.

To receive a disability license plate, you must complete an Application for Disability Parking Placard or Disability Plate - State Form 42070 and present the form at any license branch or customer service location.

Availability

This plate is can be ordered through myBMV.com (renewal only), at license branches, and other customer service locations. You will receive the plate in the mail within 10 days.

Vehicle Types

This plate may be displayed on passenger cars, motorcycles, trucks (up to 11,000 pounds), and RVs.

License Plate Stickers And Frames

Your plate should have stickers showing the day, month, and year of your next registration renewal, and the county in which your vehicle is registered. Indiana law prohibits license plate frames or covers that obscure stickers, text, or numbers on your plate.
