A “snowmobile” is defined as a motor driven vehicle designed for travel primarily on snow or ice; and of a type that uses sled type runners or skis, an endless belt tread, or any combination of these or other similar means of contact with the surface upon which the vehicle is operated.
Snowmobiles are not required to be titled but may be voluntarily titled upon request of the owner.
All snowmobiles operated in Indiana must be registered with the BMV and display valid snowmobile decals unless otherwise exempt. Operation of properly registered snowmobiles is permitted on Indiana public property where authorized by the Department of Natural Resources, roadways where authorized by the county highway department, and on private property with the consent of the landowner.
Snowmobile registrations can be ordered through myBMV.com or at any license branch. You will receive your Certificate of Registration and decal within 14 days.
