John P. Ryan is the Director of the Indiana Department of Child Services. Prior to his appointment as Director in 2012, John served the Agency as General Counsel, Legislative Director, and as its Chief of Staff.

John brings many years of both public and private sector service to the Agency. He served the city of Indianapolis as a city prosecutor, Special Counsel to the Mayor, and as Senior Deputy Mayor. During his work in the private sector he served as a partner at Ice Miller and as a Vice President at One America.

John earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his J.D. from Indiana University-Indianapolis.
