The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience is Indiana’s largest, hands-on outdoor recreation event. Hosted on the grounds of Fort Harrison State Park, the free event features more than 50 activities and 120 grassroots partners. The event has been condensed and is more convenient this year. All activities are within a mile of each other. The farthest activity from the bus dropoff/welcome center is six-tenths of a mile.
Once inside the park, this is a walking-only event. Please wear comfortable shoes, and bring small strollers and wagons if you have children or supplies to haul.
The event is presented by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation, and various sponsors, including Central Indiana Ford Dealers. We thank activity providers and volunteers for helping make the event happen.
Limited parking for the event is at the south parking lot of the Maj. Gen. E.J. Bean Finance Center (see map). Use the DNR shuttles to travel to Fort Harrison State Park. There is no parking inside the park during the event. If using an online mapping site, enter your destination as the intersection of E. 56th Street and Post Road.
You will not be able to enter the main gates of the park. A walk-in entrance is available on Glenn Road. Park in the parking lot of the Maj. Gen. E.J. Bean Finance Center. Cross 56th Street at Herbert Lord Road. Follow the signs for 0.5 miles to the Glenn Road foot entrance.
