DHPA's Grassroots Preservation Roundup
The Grassroots Preservation Roundup and Idea Exchange is designed to reach out to local preservationists who might not otherwise attend the Cornelius O'Brien Conference and provide information on various Division programs that can benefit local preservation efforts.
The Cornelius O'Brien Conference on Historic Preservation
DHPA partners with Indiana University and Indiana Main Street to host this annual statewide conference which serves as the official forum for preservation issues in Indiana.
Cemetery Preservation Workshop
There are no state laws that describe the techniques for preservation of cemeteries and gravestones, but there are best practices and standards to meet to assure that you are preserving the site in a way that will not eventually lead to damage. Each year the Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology co-sponsors with the Indiana Historical Society a series of workshops to teach the skills needed in cemetery preservation.
Educator's Workshop
This yearly conference is co-sponsored by the DHPA, Indiana State Museum, Indiana Historical Bureau, and the Department of Education at IUPUI. The goal of the workshop is to teach educators about Indiana’s history and the role that Hoosiers had in the greater context of United States History. Sessions include expert speakers, architectural knowledge of the period or topic, hands-on projects that can be brought to students, and an Expo Hall for history organizations to display their information. The topic for 2008 is Multicultural Indiana: Teaching Hoosier Diversity.
