Trails improve the quality of life of Hoosiers by providing opportunities for wellness, alternative transportation and recreation for a variety of ages, abilities and activities. Indiana proudly offers more than 3,500 miles of trails open to the public, more than double the amount it had in 2006, and a number that continues to grow. Additionally, 93.8 percent of all Hoosiers currently live within five miles or 10 minutes of a trail, up from 70 percent in 2006.
Governor Pence proclaimed Saturday, June 6, 2015 as Trails Day in Indiana. This is a time to celebrate National Trails Day by enjoying Indiana's wonderful trail system.
