Trail Conditions

December 7, 2011

FAIR DUE TO RECENT RAINS

Deer hunting continues along the trail. Click here for more information. It is suggested that hikers wear hunter orange.

Please carry out all trash you produce in order to keep the KT clean for your fellow hikers to enjoy. Don’t forget about cleaning your cache sites along the trail.

NOTE: If you are aware of any adverse trail conditions on the KT, please let us know.  Contact Nila Armstrong Please be specific of type of hazard and location.

Trail Re-Routes

The Knobstone Trail has three temporary re-routes that will affect your hiking. This restriction is due to the timber management areas located in the Jackson-Washington State Forest, Deam Lake SRA, and Clark State Forest.

  1. The KT is closed from the 0 MM to 1.5 MM. The Deam Lake Trailhead has moved to the Flower Gap Day Parking Lot. The KT travels with a horseback trail until it connects to the KT. For more details, click here.

  2. Just west of the New Chapel Trailhead at the 17.5 MM at the road to the 14.5 MM. Hikers and horseback riders are sharing this section of KT.

  3. It is just south of the Oxley Trailhead from approximately 37 MM to the 36 MM

We will keep you posted on the status of each section. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during these projects.
