New chief of wildlife

Wayne Bivans returns to the DNR as chief of wildlife.

This past fall, the DNR welcomed back Wayne Bivans as the new chief of wildlife.

Bivans, fish and wildlife director from 1991-93, has worked for the DNR since 1970, when he was a reservoir specialist/biologist at Mississinewa Lake. He joined the division of fish and wildlife as chief of operations in 1984, and served that division in various capacities until moving to Michigan as regional director for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in 1994.

The chief of wildlife runs the division’s wildlife section, which consists of fish and wildlife properties programs, private lands programs, and the research/species management programs.

Bivans, a Zionsville resident, is a wildlife biology graduate of Purdue University, and has a degree in public administration from Indiana University.
