Offices Closed Sept. 1 - In observance of Labor Day, all offices of the Indiana Department of Revenue will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, 2014.
Free Business Tax Presentations -- The department, in partnership with the Indiana CPA Society, is hosting free business tax presentations, called Start Strong, in Bloomington on Sept. 4, 2014, Lafayette on Sept. 23, and Fort Wayne on Oct. 9. Attendees will learn about business structures, registering a business, tax types, filing and paying taxes, business tax FAQs, and have their questions answered by an experienced business tax auditor. Same-Sex Marriage Tax Filing Guidance -- In accordance with IC 31-11-1-1, Indiana does not recognize same-sex marriages. Therefore, same-sex couples who file federal returns with a married filing status must each file their Indiana income tax returns with a filing status of single.
