Indianapolis (April 14, 2008) – The Indiana Department of Revenue will be open regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and April 15.

With more resources available online to help taxpayers file their returns, the Department has seen traffic to its offices dwindle to only a handful of visitors on April 15, over the past few years.

Some Indiana news organizations erroneously reported this morning that the Department of Revenue would be open past normal business hours today and tomorrow. This is inaccurate.

Filing season update

  • More than 2.2 million people have filed their Indiana tax returns to date in the 2008 filing season.
  • 73 percent of all returns filed to date have been filed electronically.
  • More than 100,000 people have used I-File, the state’s fast, friendly and free online filing program.

Those taxpayers who are due a refund and have direct deposit, have received their refunds in an average of four days this tax season.
