Indianapolis (Jan. 25, 2006) – The Indiana Department of Revenue will host a news briefing on Jan. 27, 2006, to preview the newly revamped I-File program. This event is intended to provide the Indiana news media with an advanced demonstration of the significantly upgraded I-File program before it goes live to the public next week. The new program is faster and friendlier to use than the previous program and free to taxpayers wishing to file their Indiana individual income tax electronically.
I-File has been upgraded substantially to encourage increased taxpayer use. The use of I-File, and electronic filing in general, can help to save the state significant money in processing tax returns.
The news briefing will be held at the Indiana Government Center South, Conference Room 5. The demonstration is scheduled to begin promptly at 9 a.m. A question-and-answer session about the new I-File program will be held immediately after the demonstration. The briefing is scheduled to complete promptly at 10 a.m. A Department of Revenue spokesperson will be available throughout the day Jan. 27 to help answer additional media questions.
