Authorizing Signature on OSW Permits -- Effective April 1, 2012 Indiana OSW permits will no longer require an authorizing signature.
The signature line has been removed on the M-233P to facilitate this transition. The driver may now legally display the permit by showing either:
1. A printed copy of your M-233P, or
2. A PDF format digital document on an electronic device: smartphone, laptop, tablet or other suitable device capable of clearly displaying the PDF of your M-233P
The driver must continue to keep the M204 (general provision sheet) in the truck. The M204 may be kept as a paper copy or as a PDF on an electronic device.
Talking on a Cell Phone While Driving -- Effective Jan. 1, 2012 interstate truck and bus drivers will be prohibited from using hand-held cell phones while operating their vehicle. The joint rule is from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is the latest action by the DOT to end distracted driving.
