The Indiana Department of Revenue has released the new income tax rates for all 92 Indiana counties. This is a preliminary list for those county income tax rates that become effective Oct. 1, 2009. However, state law allows counties this year to adopt new rates until Oct. 30.

This information is of particular interest to businesses, as businesses will need to begin applying these new rates to employee tax withholdings in counties where rates have changed.

Those counties that have adopted county income tax rate changes so far this year include: Carroll, Grant, Hancock, Lawrence, Monroe, Parke, St. Joseph and Wabash. In addition, Bartholomew and Posey counties also adopted the county economic development income tax.

Rate changes adopted after Sept. 30 and before Oct. 16 will take effect Nov. 1, 2009. In addition, any rate changes adopted after Oct. 15 and before Nov. 1 will take effect Dec. 1, 2009.
