Women Veterans

As of October 2007, Indiana has an estimated number of more than 33,000 women veterans. Indiana has women veterans from every war period, including World War I. Currently (as of September 2007), there are over 2,200 women on active duty, not including the Indiana National Guard.

Women veterans often are unaware of the benefits and services available to them. This section is devoted to providing resources for women veterans and their friends and families. Some resources refer to federal benefits and services available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Other benefits and facilities are specific to the state of Indiana and require Indiana residency to qualify. Also included are resources in Indiana communities which may be of interest to all women in crisis.

If you know of resources not listed in this Home Page, please contact Kris Bertrand, Indiana Women Veterans Coordinator at 317-232-3921 or email at kabertrand@dva.in.gov you may also fax us the information at 317/232-7721.
