The Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning (OECOSL), formerly the Bureau of Child Care, has received applications from both current and new grantees for the second round of the Early Education Matching Grants (EEMG).
These competitive grants were established during the 2013 General Assembly (IC12-17.2-3.6). Last year, OECOSL awarded over $1.5M in EEMG funds to 30 different early learning programs in 15 different counties across the state. These grants are now supporting the cost of high quality Pre-K services for over 414 low income four year old children enrolled in these programs.
For the 2015-16 school year, OECOSL will award approximately $2M in the second round of these competitive grants to serve additional four year olds in high quality Pre-K programs throughout the state. Applications for this round of EEMG grants were not offered to the five On My Way Pre-K counties (Allen, Lake, Marion, Jackson and Vanderburgh) since their programs may be funded by those grants.
The approximate date of award decisions is March 15, 2015.
Programs who are awarded the grant will be required to administer the ISTAR-KR. Click here for a brief introduction to the ISTAR-KR. Additional information about the ISTAR-KR can be found on the Indiana Department of Education's website.
