Letters of greeting are provided by the Governor's Office as a service to Indiana residents with the goal of recognizing individuals or organizations across Indiana. These public service documents are strictly honorary and are not legally binding.

Letters are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The Governor's Office reserves the right to decline—including in the case of insufficient information—or edit any requests as well as the right to make exceptions to the guidelines. All letters sent from the Office of the Governor are final.

To submit an application for a letter of greeting, please review the guidelines below and submit a completed form for review.

GUIDELINES:

  • All requests must be for Indiana residents.
  • Requests must be submitted at least three weeks prior to deadlines. No exceptions will be made.
  • Draft requests should be no longer than one page.
  • Letters must fall in one of the following categories:
    • Birthdays (age 75 and older)
    • Anniversaries recognizing 25th, 50th or subsequent milestones
    • Non-military Retirements
    • Eagle Scout/ Girl Scout Gold Award recognitions
    • Welcome letters for events
    • Congratulatory letters for individuals of achievement
