INDIANAPOLIS (July 11, 2007) - First Lady Cheri Daniels will host her third annual Heartland Walk for Health August 11, 2007 at the Indiana State Fair. The Heartland Walk for Health strives to raise awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of women and to promote heart healthy lifestyles for all Hoosiers.

"I urge you and your families to come out and support the women you love by walking together to promote a heart healthy lifestyle and raise awareness of heart disease," said Daniels.

Activities including warm-up exercises, music, entertainment and free health screenings by the Clarian Cardiovascular Center begin in front of the "Toyota Trucks Grandstand" at 8:00 a.m. Daniels will lead the walk beginning at 9:00 a.m.

All participants will receive a commemorative T-Shirt, State Fair participation ribbon, bottled water and goodie bag. Walk-up registrations will also be accepted.

The Heartland Walk for Health is sponsored in partnership with the Clarian Cardiovascular Center, the Indiana State Department of Health Office of Women's Health, the Indiana State Fair and the Office of the First Lady.

Indiana has a large number of overweight adults and children. Regular physical activity can help lower obesity and prevent heart disease.
