INDIANAPOLIS (February 3, 2011) – In partnership with the American Heart Association, First Lady Cheri Daniels is asking Hoosiers to recognize National Wear Red Day on February 4 to raise awareness about women’s cardiovascular disease.

“Wearing red is an easy way to help spread the word that heart disease is the number one killer of women,” said Daniels. “It’s a great reminder to talk with the women we love about the importance of living a heart-healthy life.”

For the fifth consecutive year, the Governor’s Residence will be illuminated with red light during the month of February. Red flags also have been placed in front of the house along Meridian Street.

The first lady’s Heart to Heart initiative encourages individuals to have conversations with their families and friends about heart disease. To spread her message, Mrs. Daniels travels across the state to speak at hospitals, on college campuses and to women’s groups about the importance of heart health.
