Assignment: Learn how to operate a lemonade stand
Status: Completed!
First Lady Cheri Daniels was greeted at her 15th assignment by Dave O’Brien of HANK FM and entrepreneur Scott Jones. Scott is spearheading Lemonade Day in Indianapolis, an initiative that teaches kids about entrepreneurship.
Prior to opening her stand in the Indianapolis City Market, Mrs. Daniels learned about Lemonade Day, which will occur on May 1.
The first lady prepares the ingredients and garnishes for her lemonade stand. The lemonade was donated by Circle City Soups, a vendor in the City Market.
Once the first lady’s lemonade stand was open for business, she received many customers.
The first lady was surprised by Governor Daniels and Indianapolis Colts mascot Blue while operating her stand.
After an hour’s work, the first lady counted the revenue from the lemonade stand.
Participants of Lemonade Day have the option of keeping their earnings or donating them to charity. In one hour, First Lady Cheri Daniels collected $80 and donated it to Lemonade Day Indianapolis.
On May 1, thousands of Indianapolis area children will be participating in Lemonade Day. Additional information about this event can be found at http://indianapolis.lemonadeday.org/.
