About the Lesson Plans

In September 2011, Indiana Historical Bureau staff presented an outreach program to the inaugural class at Oakland High School.  The three interactive sessions were meant to teach the importance of trustworthy sources in research and give students a chance to practice history.  These lesson plans were prepared to allow Indiana teachers to recreate the sessions in their classrooms. 

The lessons are stand-alone units, with each focusing on a different Indiana History topic and addressing the Core Literacy Standards in a different way.  Each lesson has a multimedia component, an evidence packet of relevant primary and secondary sources, and a teacher guide with all necessary handouts and worksheets.
