Purpose of Southwest Indianapolis Air Toxics Study
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is conducting a two-year study of air toxics in the southwestern quadrant of Indianapolis. Working with the City of Indianapolis, community groups, local businesses, environmental organizations, other public institutions (Indiana University and IUPUI), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), IDEM is studying 80 pollutants to determine whether any of them may be present in the air in concentrations that would warrant further attention to reduce potential health risks.
