The St. John Police Department has been approved to hire two (2) police officers through the Department's Emergency Hire Process to fill current vacancies. Qualified candidates must be certified graduates from a state-accredited police academy. Applicants cannot be hired once they reach their 36th birthday UNLESS they are currently approved and enrolled in PERF.
Probationary Officers earn $54,206.88* during their first year. Experienced applicants may qualify for Second Class Patrol Officer's pay $62,593.44* but will still be considered probationary for the first year. St. John Police Officers earn $67,529.28* as First Class Patrol Officer. *Annual Earnings are based off of 12-hour shifts working a total of 2,184 hours per year.
Any qualified officer interested may pick up an application packet at the St. John Police Department from May 16-28, 2016. Applications will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M., and on Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. There is a fee of $30.00 (cash only) for the application.
