Taking care of our waterways is an important part of storm water management at INDOT.  Construction projects provide opportunities for INDOT to incorporate pollution prevention measures into public roadways. Implementing best management practices during construction can help keep waters healthy and clean.  Roadway and bridge design incorporates features that can help minimize our impact on the environment. Planting vegetation in ditches is used by INDOT to help stabilize soils and filter roadway pollutants.

For more information about storm water permitting, visit  INDOT's Environmental Services Ecology and Waterway Permitting or Indiana Department of Environmental Management Storm Water Permitting.

For help with erosion from an INDOT roadway, contact the appropriate INDOT District Office.
