"Hardworking Hoosiers have better things to do than wait in line for government services. IN.gov's expanded offerings and improvements are making it more convenient for citizens to conduct their business with state agencies." - Governor Mitch Daniels

As a division of the Indiana Office of Technology, the IN.gov Program is the organizational entity responsible for IN.gov. The IN.gov Program supports all state web design and development and establishes and enforces polices to ensure that IN.gov is safe, secure, and easy to-use.

What's New?

The IN.gov Program recently completed an unprecedented effort in state government when it wrapped up a 14-month migration of more than 75 state agency Web sites to a content management solution (CMS) and a consistent look-and-feel design. Since launching the final site in the initial phase on June 19, the IN.gov Program has refocused its efforts to make enhancements to CMS, allowing state employees to more quickly publish updated content to their sites. IN.gov Program staff has also begun migrating legislative sites to CMS so they too can leverage the easy-to-use solution. For more information about the redesign and migration, please visit the Redesign Schedule & Status page.

To learn more about what IN.gov is up to, check out the IN.gov Update, a quarterly newsletter that is sent to state agency leaders, communicators, web designers and developers, and IT personnel.

State agencies and the IN.gov Program have a number of significant recent accomplishments:

  • IN.gov and agency site visitors can now stay up-to-date on the most recent state and agency news by subscribing to "subscriptions.IN.gov," a portal-wide e-alert service.  In addition to wireless and e-mail alerts, agencies can also use the system's e-newsletter tool and the upcoming blog capabilities.
  • To assist agencies tat have been "retrofitted" to the new WebCMS project structure, the IN.gov Program created a comprehensive online training site at IN.gov/CMSTraining
  • In May, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles launched MyBMV, an online personalized service that allows customers to sign up for license and registration renewal alerts as well as update insurance and mailing address information and order duplicate titles online.
  • Visitors to redesigned IN.gov and agency sites can take advantage of  BrowseAloud, a translation and screen reader tool.

As always, IN.gov customers can still pay their income taxes, reserve rooms and camping spots at state parks, register businesses and search for business entity information, update professional license information and perform criminal history searches. And, that's just the tip of the iceberg. A full list of services is available here.

Services

The IN.gov Program hosts and ensures the security of all state agency web content and online applications on IN.gov. Web content changes and application development services are also performed as resources permit.  In addition, the IN.gov Program provides web-related services to state agencies. Typically, agencies budget for the Variable Services they need; however, for special projects--"one stop" customer-focused government services--selected by the IN.gov Program, IN.gov Program funds are leveraged for such services. (Learn how to submit your special project to the IN.gov program for review.)
