Assistive Technology (AT) and Information Technology (IT) are redefining what is possible for people with cognitive and physical disabilities. In the home, classroom, workplace and community, IT and AT are enabling individuals to become more independent, self-confident, productive and better integrated into the mainstream.

However, many people remain unaware of the technology, devices and services available to people with disabilities. As a result, people with disabilities continue to struggle with everyday tasks, even though a plethora of services are available to them.

The information below defines AT and IT. It also clarifies what opportunities may be available through the two different types of technology. Whether you or someone you know may benefit from these resources, our goal is to provide a comprehensive guide to assist, educate and empower various publics seeking more information about the subject.
