IC 100, 200, 700a and 800b courses can be taken online at http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.asp. ICS 300 occurs in a classroom setting. | |
| Course Description | The Communications Technician (COMT) course is a five (5) day, 40 hour class designed for responders who will provide communications technical assistance during emergency events. Participants will learn how to plan, implement, and demobilize communications systems supporting the communications unit in a safe and effective manner to meet the needs of the incident. Due to the amount of hands-on exercises with communications equipment, the class is limited to 10 students. |
| Target Audience | The COMT class is targeted for local, regional, state and federal emergency response professionals and coordination/support personnel with a communications background. This class is targeted to students who have technical aptitude, but not necessarily strong technical experience. |
