IPSC > 2014 FirstNet/National Public Safety Broadband Network Conference 2014 FirstNet/National Public Safety Broadband Network Conference

The Integrated Public Safety Commission is pleased to announce details for the 2014 Indiana Next Generation Public Safety Communications Conference.

WHEN: September 18, 2014

WHERE: Marriott East Conference Center, Indianapolis, IN

WHO: Indiana first responders and potential users of the FirstNet National Public Safety Broadband Network

Spurred by the 9/11 tragedy, first responders across the nation rallied together in a fight to dedicate a portion of 700 MHz spectrum to public safety.  As a result, Congress created and partially funded the First Responder Network (FirstNet) as a part of the 2012 Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act.

Using globally recognized LTE standards, FirstNet promises to bring 21st century tools to millions of organizations and individuals that respond to emergencies at the local, state, and federal levels.

FirstNet is the most ambitious telecommunications network ever undertaken in the United States. The law requires FirstNet to work with each state to determine system design and network coverage needs.  This conversation and resulting decisions will truly dictate the face of public-safety communications for the 21st century.
