Specialty Crop Block Grant

The Specialty Crop Block Grant is for Hoosiers involved in specialty crops. This is part of $55 million in federal money being spread out nationwide for specialty crops such as fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture and nursery crops (including floriculture).

Announcement of the next application period will be in January 2013.

2013 Livestock Promotion Grant

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture's (ISDA) vision is to make Indiana a world leader in innovation and commercialization of food, fuel and fiber production. ISDA works to promote and nurture the economic development of the agricultural sector, especially the livestock industry. The livestock industry is vital to the agricultural economy of Indiana, as it generates $2.86 billion in cash receipts for 2010. With livestock accounting for nearly 30% of farm cash receipts for all farm income. The livestock sector is the largest consumer for Indiana's corn and soybean products. The Indiana Legislation has recognized this economic importance of livestock to Indiana and has delegated the duty of promoting livestock to the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. According to Indiana Code, the ISDA shall aid, encourage, foster, and promote the development and improvement of the livestock industry throughout Indiana. Therefore, ISDA is looking for project proposals that will promote the livestock industry in Indiana through shows, sales, exhibitions, conventions, or similar events or projects. Applications are due by February 1, 2013.

2013 Livestock Market Development Grant

ISDA is looking for project proposals for value added feasibility studies, research projects, market development, or other projects that encourage the development of business and industry related to livestock production, processing and distribution. The grant will reimburse up to 50 % of activities and projects that the development of business and industry related to the livestock production, processing and distribution.  This would include feasibility studies, research projects, market development or other projects related to the livestock industry in Indiana. Applications are due by February 1, 2013.

2013 Youth Livestock Grant

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) is providing grants to Indiana 4-H and FFA members through Indiana’s not-for-profit organizations, commissions or associations for the purchase of breeding stock and development of breeding enhancement programs.  The breeding stock can be used to start a livestock enterprise or add animals to an existing operation.  Resources to develop a breeding program or improve the quality of an existing breeding program are also eligible for the 4-H/FFA youth livestock grant.

The Archer Daniels Midland-ADM Cares program supports safe, responsible, and environmentally sound agricultural practices in critical growing regions in North America, South America, West Africa, and Southeast Asia. The program provides grant support in the following focus areas: health and safety programs for farm workers and children who live on farms, responsible use of agricultural chemicals, sustainable farming practices, and rehabilitation and preservation of environmentally sensitive lands. Captain Planet Foundation

Pet Care Trust: Pets in the Classroom Grants Program
The goal of the Pets in the Classroom Grants Program, an initiative of the Pet Care Trust, is to establish healthy child-pet relationships at an early age by supporting responsible pet care in grammar and middle school classrooms across the country. These grants are intended to provide a means of teaching children to bond with and care for their pets. K-6 teachers in public and private schools can apply for grants or coupons in the amounts of $50, $100, or $150 for the purchase of new pets and pet environments, as well as food and supplies for existing classroom pets. CHS Foundation-Mini grants for College Ag. Clubs

Grants of up to $1,000 to innovative leadership and professional development programs with an agriculture focus.  Examples include leadership training opportunities, mentorship programs, professional development experiences, and student fundraising efforts.  The applicant must be a campus-sanctioned club/organization and have an ag related focus. Grant Information

Any organization that wishes to apply for a federal grant must have certain information ready for the registration process. You first need to check with your Grant Administrator or Chief Financial Officer since your organization may already have a DUNS Number and be registered with CCR.  The Data Universal Number System (DUNS) Number is a unique identifier for your organization required by the federal government to track how federal grant money is distributed. DUNS Numbers are issued by Dun & Bradstreet. If your organization does not already have a DUNS Number you can apply for one free of charge. Learn more

Central Contractor Registration (CCR) is the primary registrant database for the federal government. Any organization seeking federal grants on Grants.gov is required to register. Learn more
