The Indiana State Department of Agriculture encourages consumers to buy local whenever possible. Buying local gives consumers the opportunity to get some fresh high-quality food, get to know the farmer or entrepreneur so you can get questions answered and support your local community.

And Indiana has a wide variety to choose from! In addition to crops like corn and soybeans, Hoosier farmers grow more than 30 different major fruits and vegetables each year. Don’t know what fruits and vegetables are in season?  Use the Indiana Fruits and Vegetable harvest Calendar

Indiana is also one of the nation’s top producers of pork, beef, chicken, duck and eggs.  Our state abounds with a cornucopia of food products from Indiana artisans that include sauces, desserts, candies, wines, beer and much more.

And it is easy to find the local foods you want and much more! Just go to Indiana Agritourism and Farmers’ Market Online Directory (more information below) to find the closest farmers’ market, U-pick or agritourism location near you.

The interactive website Indiana MarketMaker is also a “one-stop shop” to find specific products from farm-fresh eggs to just-picked apples right in your neighborhood. Learn more

Indiana Agritourism and Farmers’ Market Online Directory

The Directory is exclusively on-line with interactive capabilities to allow consumers to easily search for their preferred product or destination. The Directory is also a free marketing tool to the farmers, food artisans and agribusinesses of Indiana. The online features also allows for access to their information so that the most up-to-date information on their destinations is available.
