Maternal & Child Health Funding Opportunity Announcement & Grant Application

Maternal & Child Health Funding Opportunity Announcement for FY2012 & FY2013. To be considered for funding, applications must be received by no later than Friday, May 20, 2011 at 4:30pm EST There will be two technical assistance meetings held on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm and on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 9:30am - 11:30am in Rice Auditorium, located at Indiana State Department of Health, 2 N Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to fund competitive grants for nonprofit organizations, local health departments, and health care entities within the State of Indiana for programs and services available to:

Pregnant women and infants up to age 1
Children ages 1 to 9
Adolescents ages 10 to 24
Women of childbearing ages 14 to 44
Families for family planning;
and Children ages infant to 21 with special health care needs

Pregnant and Parenting Adolescent Support Services (PPASS)

Funding may be available to develop and implement programs to assist parenting adolescents between the ages of 15 to 19 and/or pregnant adolescents between the ages of 15 to 19 who have made the decision to carry their pregnancy to term. All grant awards will be contingent upon availability of federal funding. This is a new and competitive grant application and will be open to all projects proposing to use funding to:

  • Support evidence-based models or promising practices
  • Serve Indiana counties identified as high risk (see 2011 Pregnant and Parenting MCH Needs Assessment)
  • Form collaborative partnerships between and among community organizations
  • Supplement, not supplant, existing funding for proposed services

To be considered for funding, applications must be received by ISDH no later than Friday, April 15, 2011 at 4:00pm EST. Those organizations planning to apply for PPASS funding are strongly encouraged to submit a letter of intent to Kandace Jones at KanJones@isdh.in.gov no later than 5:00 PM EST on Friday, March 18, 2011. PPASS Technical Assistance Webinar

Technical Assistance Webinar for prospective grantees. All prospective grantees are encouraged to watch the webinar in its entirety to ensure accurate understanding of the PPASS application process. Prospective grantees will find information and explanations of goals, objectives, priority areas, and required documents and attachments. If any prospective grantees have any unanswered questions, please submit those questions to Sarah Shaffstall at sshaffstall@isdh.in.gov or Kandace Jones at kanjones@isdh.in.gov, PPASS Program Coordinators.

All potential PPASS grantees are encouraged to submit any questions regarding the PPASS application, RFP, or scoring tool via email to Sarah Shaffstall at: Sshaffstall@isdh.in.gov. It is also recommended that all potential PPASS grantees continue to refer to the FAQ’s document as it will be updated as new questions and concerns arise.


Newborn Screening Grant Opportunities

Newborn Screening Grant applications are due to ISDH by 4 pm on Monday, March 14, 2011.  Questions about completing the grant application may be directed to Vanessa Daniels (VDaniels@isdh.IN.gov) or Courtney Eddy (CEddy@isdh.IN.gov).


Sickle Cell Grant Opportunities

Additional funding may be available for the prevention, care, and treatment of sickle cell anemia. Only applicants that are applying for one of the sickle cell grants currently posted on the ISDH website will be considered. Sickle Cell grant applications are due by Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Please be advised, applicants interested in applying for these potential funds must submit a separate summary narrative, budget narrative, performance measure(s), and evaluation describing how these additional funds will be utilized. Genetics Grant Opportunities

Grant applications are due to ISDH by 4 pm on Monday, February 28, 2011.  Questions about completing the grant application may be directed to Vanessa Daniels (VDaniels@isdh.IN.gov) or Malorie Hensley (MHensley@isdh.IN.gov).


Maternal & Child Health Funding Opportunity Announcement for Abstinence Education in FY2012. To be considered for funding, applications must be received by no later than Friday, August 17, 2012 at 5:00pm EST. Those organizations planning to apply are strongly encouraged to submit a letter of intent no later than Friday, July 20, 2012 at 5:00pm EST. There will be a technical assistance meeting held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 10:30pm - 11:30am in Rice Auditorium, located at Indiana State Department of Health, 2 N Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
