A viral inflammation of the liver that is often asymptomatic, Hepatitis C is transmitted by contact with blood or body fluids containing the Hepatitis C virus. Persons at increased risk include drug users, those on hemodialysis, and health care workers with exposure to blood.
From 2 weeks to 6 months; most commonly 6 to 7 weeks.
From one or more weeks before onset of the first symptoms; may persist in most persons indefinitely.
Surfaces and equipment contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious body fluids, or both, shall be appropriately disinfected, or when required, sterilized prior to use. (410 IAC 1-2.3-74(3))
Ensure infected child is receiving medical care.
