The Indiana Viral Hepatitis Advisory Council (IVHAC) is a group of community members, public health and medical providers, and associated Indiana State employees, who worked together between 2006 and 2008 to develop the Indiana Strategic Plan for the Prevention, Care, and Elimination of Viral Hepatitis.  The group was assembled by the State Health Commissioner and was facilitated by the Adult Viral Hepatitis Prevention Coordinator (AVHPC) and epidemiologists from the Surveillance and Investigation Division (SID) working on viral hepatitis. 

Indiana Strategic Plan for Viral Hepatitis

The plan was completed and released on November 20, 2008.  For additional information regarding the plan, please contact the Adult Viral Hepatitis Prevention Coordinator at (317) 233-7050.

Vision and Mission

  • To reduce the burden of viral hepatitis and its complications among Indiana citizens.
  • To decrease viral hepatitis transmission and its complications in Indiana citizens through surveillance, education, prevention, and disease management.
