Instrument Installation

Breath test instrument site requirements include: secure area with proper ventilation, power/network connections, and adequate space to access and inspect the instrument.

An agency that hosts an evidentiary breath test instrument is required to sign the ISDT Evidentiary Breath Test Instrument Maintenance Agreement, which provides that the host agency agrees to allow ISDT to select the instrument calibration method. There is an annual fee of $650 that covers instrument inspection, maintenance, service, and repair.

To request installation of a breath test instrument, an applicant host agency should submit a written request on agency letterhead to dbors@isdt.in.gov. The request should include acknowledgement of the annual fee and designate the agency responsible for payment.
