Biotown, USA

Through June 3, 2007
Tomorrow's Indiana

Visitors from around the world are invited to see the new BioTown, USA, to learn more about our country's very first effort to meet all of one community’s energy needs with renewable resources. Corn, soybeans, livestock manure and town sewage are all considered renewable resources. The exhibit describes the progress and success of BioTown, USA, in Reynolds, Indiana, and why this is important for Indiana. Visitors can also learn about Indiana's bioenergy industry, rural development, energy independence and new technologies in energy production. BioTown, USA, is presented by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture and the Office of Energy and Defense Development.

Using a pendulum, Jean Bernard Leon Foucault is remembered as the first man to demonstrate the rotation of the earth without using anything outside of the Earth, such as the sun or stars, as a point of reference. The museum houses a Foucault Pendulum.
