June 10 - 12, 2008
Project Archaeology offers educators new and exciting enrichment opportunities at the Sorinsville neighborhood excavation site. Learn about the history behind this Irish immigrant neighborhood in South Bend, as you split time between the classroom and the field in this three-day workshop.
Participants will discover why the past is important and how archaeology can be used to solve puzzles of the past through a variety of hands-on lessons from Intrigue of the Past. The workshop will include information on how to interest your students in the ethical dilemmas facing archaeologists and Native Americans as well as lively discussions with professionals. Learn about Indiana’s Native American cultural history through an activity that uses replicas of artifacts found in and around the state. You can even take part in an actual archaeological excavation!
