Covered Wagon

coveredwagon_box.jpgGrades 3 - 5

Covered Wagon is a hands-on, interactive program presented in the classroom by a team of trained volunteers. Each Covered Wagon kit includes a miniature covered wagon, pioneer family and belongings. Students are presented with the same tough choices that a pioneer family moving from Pennsylvania to Indiana would have faced, as they learn which items will fit into the wagon and which items must be left behind. All of the items are historically accurate and are examples of possessions that a pioneer family might have owned. Covered Wagon is a great opportunity to bring the past into your present.

Designed for elementary school children, each free one-hour program is conducted with multiple presenters and kits to insure a hands-on experience for all students. Covered Wagon fulfills selected Indiana Academic Standards.

To bring Covered Wagon to your school or organization, contact Jane Darlage (317.234.2449).
