Group Program Offerings

"Mississippian Angel Mounds"
This is an indoor presentation that can be done at the site or an off-site location and is geared toward all ages. This program focuses on the lifestyle and culture of the Mississippian people who occupied Angel Mounds. The program begins with a video and is followed by a presentation that uses artifacts and reproduction artifacts.

"Natural Resources of the Mississippians" Grounds Tour
This is an on-site tour for Prue-school children to adults. The program focuses on how the Mississippians at Angel Mounds used natural resources to make a living. Participants will become familiar with wildlife and its purposes in Mississippian culture.

"Angel Mounds Historical Era"
This is an indoor presentation.  It can be done on site or at another location and is designed for fourth-graders and older. The program focuses on the historical era of Angel Mounds’ occupation.  It includes a slide show of historical images and a presentation on the archaeological period with an emphasis on the roles of the Works Progress Administration, Glenn Black, Eli Lilly, and other historical figures who contributed to Angel Mounds.

"History & Culture" Grounds Tour 
This on-site tour focusing on the history and culture of Angel Mounds is designed for fourth-graders and older. It includes elements of prehistoric and later eras for a comprehensive perspective on Angel Mounds’ occupation.

"Flint-Napping & Tools" Grounds Tour
This unique on-site tour can only accommodate groups of 15 or smaller at one time and is geared toward fourth-graders to adults. This very interactive program allows participants to try their hands at Mississippian tool-making. Participants will saw stones using sandstone, drill holes in pendants using chert and cane drills, and create knives by flint-knapping. Participants will be able to keep their pendants and knives.

"Archaeology C.S.I. - Cultural Site Investigation"
This indoor presentation may be done on site or at another location for sixth- and seventh-grade math and science students only. It focuses on the science of archaeology using a PowerPoint presentation and discussion and fulfills select Indiana Academic Standards.
