Imagine a time when small towns in Indiana began to develop and prosper. William Culbertson moved to Indiana seeking a new life. He eventually became one of the richest men in the state. The Culbertson Mansion is a reminder of the tastes, ideals and lifestyle of both servants and upper class people during the high Victorian era in the late 1800s.
School Tours
For just $1, each student can experience:
William Culbertson’s rise from a dry goods clerk to the leading entrepreneur in New Albany, Indiana
Philanthropy, community, wealth, servants and social issues of the late 1800s
French Second Empire architecture and the finest decorative arts of the period
How technology and family life has changed over the past 130 years

Admission is $1 per person. Groups of 10 or more must reserve their tour in advance.
Field trips are available year round by appointment.
Additional school program fees will vary.

Outreach Programs
Activity trunks—including Cornelia's Trunk, Archeology, Covered Wagon, Civil War, Pioneers, Architecture, Culbertson Kit, Victorian Trunk and natural history—are available free to teachers.
Outreach programs with costumed interpreters are available for $2 per student.
