Wheelchair Access

wheelchair.jpgThe Indiana State Museum is designed with wheelchair access in mind.

  • The underground parking garage adjacent to the museum (White River State Park parking garage) has parking spaces for people with disabilities located near the museum entrance. Additionally, using the circular drive located off  Washington Street, visitors may be dropped off at the museum’s electronic front door.
  • All sidewalks around the museum and the underground garage, including the walkway leading to the canal, offer ramps or elevators.
  • The Guest Services desk and drinking fountains are accessible to wheelchair users.
  • The museum has universally accessible restrooms on all floors and a family restroom on the third floor.
  • The museum has enhanced the experience for people with disabilities by creating universally accessible paths of travel for use by all visitors.
  • The museum features universally inclusive interactive exhibits, and all of our exhibits are accessible to people who are seated or standing.
  • All areas of the museum and the IMAX® Theater are accessible to wheelchair users. Wheelchair seating is available in the IMAX Theater as well as the museum auditorium.
  • The Indiana State Museum has a limited number of wheelchairs available at the Information Desk, located on the Canal level on a first come, first–served basis.
