Detectives assigned to this section specialize in one of the following areas; white-collar crime, vehicle theft, child pornography and cyber crime.
Vehicle Crimes Unit - The Vehicle Crimes Unit consists of one sergeant and three troopers who conduct vehicle crime investigations statewide. They assist other investigators and agencies with the identification of stolen vehicles, vehicle parts, and vehicle documents. This unit has a direct link with the National Insurance Crime Bureau and serves as the department's liaison with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Crimes Against Children Unit - The Crimes Against Children Unit consists of one sergeant and five detectives who conduct investigations involving the possession and distribution of child pornography and exploitation. These detectives utilize the latest technology in pursuing individuals who prey on children.
Organized Crime and Corruption Unit - The Organized Crime and Corruption Unit consists of one sergeant and six detectives who conduct long-term complex financial investigations. Investigations include political corruption, internal employee theft, and investment type scams.
Cyber Crime Unit - The Cyber Crime Unit was established in May 1998. This unit provides law enforcement officers assistance in criminal investigations where the use of any type of digital media was used an integral part of the crime. The unit consists of six sergeants who conduct forensic retrieval of digital evidence. There are also 28 trained Digital Media Recovery Specialists who are utilized throughout the state on as needed basis to conduct on-scene computer previews.
