Cable and Video Service Regulation
In March of 2006, the Telecommunications Reform Bill of 2006, HEA 1279 was passed by the General Assembly and signed by Governor Mitch Daniels. Part of the Bill provides that after June 30, 2006, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) is the sole franchising authority for the provision of video service in Indiana.
On June 14, 2006, the Commission approved a General Administrative Order (GAO 2006-4) establishing the process, instructions and application for state issued video franchises or Video Service Providers (VSP). The GAO also provides procedures to make changes to existing certificates of franchise authority within Indiana.
The GAO, applications and instructions can be obtained from the links below.
Video Service Provider (VSP) Applications may be filed with the IURC beginning Monday, July 3, 2006.
